Top Ponytail Hairstyles of Women in NYC

As women, we all have to deal with that one hair in the face and flat, lifeless locks after a long day. But there's one hairstyle that can solve these problems: the ponytail. A high ponytail, low ponytail or braided ponytail—it doesn't matter. A textured look or sleeker look—either way, the ponytail is a timeless classic that can get you through any situation!

Three different ways to wear your ponytail long and full, instantly: a high ponytail, a textured ponytail, and a low ponytail. These styles are quick and easy to create, which make them perfect for everyday use. By strategically clipping in wefts, you can easily make your ponytail look longer without the need for additional faux clip-in hair extensions.

Ponytail 1: High ponytail with hair extensions

Start by separating a small section of hair from your crown. This will serve as a base for attaching the clip-in extensions. Attach the first clip in long ponytail hair extensions around your ponytail and be sure to position it as close to your hair elastic as possible so that you have room for other extensions. Continue with the rest of the 2 or 3 clip wefts; attach them around your ponytail in the same manner. Or you can stack one mega weft on top of another and wrap it all-around your ponytail.

Gather all your hair together, then twist it into a ponytail. Secure the ponytail with a hair tie. Smooth away any flyaways, and to finish off the look, wrap a strand of hair around the base of your ponytail, fully covering the hair elastic. Secure it with a bobby pin.

Ponytail 2: Messy ponytail with hair extensions

Our favorite way to wear ponytail hair extensions is to clip the wefts in the same direction that your hair naturally falls when it's put up in a ponytail. This way, you won't get any lumps or bumps from the wefts. Separate some hair about halfway through the front of your head and clip in two clip wefts facing downward. If you want more volume in your ponytail or have shorter hair, you can stack two wefts on top of each other and clip them in this section.

To create the illusion of thicker hair, gather your hair into a high ponytail. Separate another section of hair to be placed at the crown of your head (this will give the crown some volume) and clip in four clip-in wefts. Next, gather all other sections of hair and clip them in with three wefts each. After tucking all of your hair neatly into a ponytail, tug on your roots to add texture. Use a Loop Hair Extensions Brush to backcomb the base of your ponytail for added volume and texture. Finally, scrunch upwards with your hand before adding hairspray to finish the look.

Ponytail 3: Low ponytail with hair extensions

To achieve this hairstyle, you can clip in 3 and 4 clip hair extensions for length and volume or use a full set of hair extensions for maximum length and thickness. Once you have added your full set of hair extensions, pull all your hair into human hair extensions. We recommend parting your hair to the side, however, feel free to part it wherever you would like it on yourself. Using Hair Extensions, smooth down any flyaways. If your hair is straight, add some curls throughout your ponytail then brush them out for a softer look. You can also leave your hair straight for a more edgy look.
