Minecraft Java Edition Will Soon Require A Microsoft Account

Following Mojang's acquisition by Microsoft, Minecraft Java Edition has been operating as-is. Bedrock Edition was created to integrate with Microsoft's account system but Java has been operating on its own Mojang account island up to this point.minecraft roleplay serverswill soon require the use of a Microsoft account to play, but you'll at least get a free cape for your problems.

You will need to transfer your Java or Mojang account to the Microsoft account system in early 2021. Mojang claims that this is to introduce two-factor authentication in order to improve security. However, it will also allow enhanced parental controls, chat block as well as invitation blocking. account integration with Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons.

Mojang has no plans to change Minecraft mods or PvP. Java and Bedrock will continue to be completely separate games. You'll continue to be able to play using your existing Java username, but when you sign up for your first Microsoft account for the first time, you might have to change the usernames of your accounts. If you already have a Microsoft account in the first place, you'll be able merge your Minecraft login right away.

To ease the pain of the transition, Mojang is giving away the once Java Edition's most exclusive item: an eagle. You'll get a cape for free to take part in the transition, and while it won't feature the exclusive designs of the Minecon mantles, it will finally give everyone the chance to feel royal for a bit.

While nothing immediate is changing, players do have some concerns, including the fact that Microsoft's stricter terms of service could make bans more frequent, and could lock some players out of accessing Minecraft.

More details are available in the FAQ and the official announcement. We'll find out how it plays out in the early 2021s.
