Selecting A Printer - Some Tips

We often get requested by our customers for advice on printers. These are our top recommendations!

We're not experts in printing however, we do have some important tips we love to share with customers.

1. Recommendations
A few customers have an idea of what their printer requirements are, but would like to know if we would recommend any specific brands. Both OKI and HP printers are capable of producing high-quality labels. This is a crucial criteria for us. In actuality, we have our very own OKI printer in our office that we use on a daily basis to fulfill a variety of printing needs , such as our labels for products as well as school information packets, mailers, letters and our silver and gold packing labels.

2. Laser Or Inkjet
There are some customers who aren't sure whether they need to be considering laser printers or inkjet printers. The answer is dependent on the purpose they want the printer to do. Desktop printers were known to have an edge in the past particularly in the case of a need for colour print. Indeed, many people still think that laser printers are expensive and not suitable for black and white, day to day printing. But, over the last few years laser printers have grown significantly more economical to run, and can produce excellent quality prints.

There are a few key differences, however, that will determine whether we recommend the use of an inkjet or laser printer.

WATERPROOF PRINTS: A laser printer is needed for waterproof labels. Inkjet printers use water-based inks which can smudge if they're wet.Find More About Thisuse heat to bond to the paper and produce an impervious finish.

Material choices - Laser printers have a wider range of material choices than inkjet printers. If a buyer prefers a specific material, or wants to have their choice of different materials it is best off selecting a laser printer.

Printing images: although laser printers can deliver outstanding print quality, often inkjet printers are the better option for printing high-resolution images. For instance, we offer glossy photo-quality material suitable for inkjet printers that produces an amazing print when printing photographs.

3. More Advice
Two general tips are also offered that we'd like to pass on to customers who are considering purchasing the printer. In the first place, it's worth looking at the "duty cycle" of a printer. It is typically described as a monthly duty cycle and provides an estimate of how many pages the printer SHOULD be able to (i.e. It is designed to handle printing for a minimum of one month. We recommend customers select one with a greater rate of duty when it is possible. Customers might be also interested in the cost of the printers, but it is worthwhile to look into the cost of the consumables. A lot of companies will cover the consumables needed to keep the printer running. Some companies will lock their customers to their brand of consumables which can be expensive to replace.
