Bending Borders

The exhibition,Bending Borders , examines the ways maps bend the boundaries of reality. During the Cold War, the town of Szelmenc in Czechoslovakia was divided between Europe and the Soviet Union. It had been part of both Hungary and the former Czechoslovakia. During the war, the village cemetery was razed and a new border was erected. As a result, the population began to migrate to the US, and its population shrank.
