Although the legality of sporting betting is still up for debate, some states have started to allow it. In Iowa betting on sports has been legal since 2019 (both in retail and online). The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission regulates the business and the licensing fee is borne by the online operator. The betting on sports in Michigan is legal on the internet and in retail casinos. The program was introduced in three casinos in March 2020, just ahead of the Coronavirus pandemic. Mississippi also dabbled in the sport betting industry but hasn't fully adopted betting on mobile devices.
The repeal of PASPA has triggered a wave of business and legislative momentum. As of late, 4 major American sports leagues have partnered with operators of sports betting. Some have even set up official channels for sports betting. Nevada has been a notable exception.
