Teenager Arrested Over Mass School Bomb Hoax



After a huge bomb hoax shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK, a teenager believed to be in the middle of an Minecraft gamers feud was arrested.



Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year old after 24,000 threatening emails sent to schools were sent warning of a bomb threat and soliciting cash.



The emails appeared to have been sent by VeltPvP the gaming network.stuffis an Minecraft player-versus-player server, of the type that businesses utilize to sell their products to gamers.

Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old following 24,000 emails were sent out to schools warning about the threat of attack.



These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were intended to cause the abuse of the domain to be suspended.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) stated that there was no credible threat to the emails' that were received this week.

They acknowledged that they were aware of the concerns of parents and teachers but also stated that there was no real threat from the emails sent to schools.

The signs were placed in front of Cardinal Road School in Feltham after the hoax email bombings.



Those involved in the feud claimed opponents had engaged in illegal activities in order to hinder one another's businesses.



When asked whether he regretted the impact the letters caused to school children who were compelled to leave one of the hoaxers said, "It is terrible, it's not the best thing."



In blaming VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed the network had enaged in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he alleges were used to attempt to shut down other competitors' Minecraft servers.



Following the bomb hoax email threat, parents were told to take their children home.



VeltPvP released a statement that stated that they were being hounded and harassed by cybercriminals.

The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and schools across the country. It claimed that the bomb was already planted and would explode if money was not provided.



Cardinal Road School in Feltham West London, was among the schools sent the hoax email.



Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who conducted an investigation.



Parents have requested to be allowed to pick up their children from school due to concerns about the emails.



Six schools across Hertfordshire were also among those affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
