Minetest 5.5.Zero Is Out, Forked Their Very Own Rendering Engine With IrrlichtMT


Minetest 5.5.Zero has rolled out, with a swap over from Irrlicht to their very own fork of the rendering engine IrrlichtMt designed to have special enhancements only for Minetest. What is Minetest? It is an open source voxel recreation engine, that can be modded into many various games - like Minecraft.


There's fairly quite a lot of changes aside from the rendering tech changing. This is some highlights:


- Improved TTF font help
- Touch UI assist for desktop builds
- Joystick sensitivity for participant motion
- Hyperlinks clickable in chat, disabled by default
- Normal texture support (for minimap shading)

- Handle modpacks containing modpacks correctly in the content downloader
- Lots of new additions for modders
- Efficiency enhancements and bug fixes
