Java And Bedrock Editions Merge, Creating One Minecraft To Rule Them All

The huge success of Minecraft was not without difficulties, one of which was that the original game was coded in Java.Gamesis the version that a lot of players prefer, but the Bedrock version was the most popular version for many years. It was renamed "Minecraft" in 2017.

Confused? The differences are very important to those invested in Minecraft and the most important being the fact that it's simpler to modify the Java edition. No matter how you play the game, there was one major drawback on PC: you had to purchase each version separately. Now Mojang and Microsoft has announced that starting tomorrow, 7 June, the two versions of what many consider to be the most successful game ever created have been combined into Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition for PC.

This is a clever name. This allows buyers to access both editions of the game, and is now the "only version of the vanilla Minecraft on Windows PC. You can play cross-play with Java or Bedrock players by simply starting the version that your friends are currently playing.

Players who have one of the versions of the game will be upgraded to the duopack edition. Mojang claims that this could take a few days to completely be released, but all owners of the game should notice the new package appears automatically in their Minecraft Launcher over the next few days.

Mojang stated that Java and Bedrock would remain separate games with their own unique features. "The only difference is that you now get both games as standard when you purchase Minecraft for Windows PC. You can access both games from the same launcher."

The split between versions hasn't been without controversy in the past: Java players got upset when the game began insisting on a Microsoft account (opens in new tab). This change appears to make sense and be beneficial for players.

Minecraft is in excellent health. Players are waiting for the massive Wilds update (opens new tab). It's still present in the real world, most recently used in Macron's reelection campaign (opens new tab). I'm curious about how many people can vote on the server. Of course, regardless of what edition they're using, players continue to create the most amazing of visual effects in this chaotic and ever-changing world (opens in new tab).
