Sevas to be done during Sharavan

In Hinduism, we consider our ancestors as Pitru Devatas and worship them without fail. We perform various rituals like Shraddha, Tarpana, Dana, Homa, and so on, to appease Pitru Devatas and receive their blessings. The Vedas consider this as Pitru Yajna. Non-performance of these rituals leads to the inauspicious Doshas, which often manifests as prolonged illnesses, mishaps, misunderstandings at home, no career progress, financial instability, and progeny-related issues.

Matsya Purana tells us that on every Amavasya, our Pitrus (ancestors) visit us to see how we are leading our lives bless those who worship them before returning to Pitru Loka. Hence, our tradition asks us to Perform Pitru Tarpana on every Amavasya.

Garuda Purana says performing Thila Homam during this auspicious time will liberate 3 generations of ancestors. It also releases ancestors from 28 Narakas and frees their souls. to remove obstacles, bad karma, eliminate effects of bad omens, and pleases your ancestors’ soul to attain salvation and peace.
