By comparison, HPS and MH lights waste a lot of energy producing light at ranges that are not efficiently used by plants. This means that CMH are more PAR efficient than either HPS or MH, making them a better single light solution.
What’s Better For Growing — LED or CMH Grow Lights?
When many growers look to upgrade their existing grow light setup, they wonder, what’s better for growing — LED or CMH grow lights?
The simple answer is, it’s not so simple. They’re both incredible lighting technologies for growing plants indoors. And you can’t go wrong with either one.But which technology is better for you will depend on your specific grow, your budget, and the type of plants you’re growing.LED’s are advantageous in that they offer a more optimized spectrum, higher efficiency (aka lower electricity consumption), cooler operation, and in some instances, increased terpenes and potency.
But, CMH grow lighting may be better for you if you’re on a budget, as LED grow lights can be as much as 2–4 times more expensive to invest in! Plus, CMH grow lights are best when it comes to yield/watt in most tests, and because of their increased intensity, they can penetrate your canopy deeper for heavier yields.

ECO FARM DOUBLE ENDED 1000W HPS GROW LIGHT KIT DIMMABLE LIGHT FIXTURE: It adopts electronic ballast, which has the characteristics of low energy consumption, high power, high brightness, good energy saving effect, effective current and voltage control, automatic detection system and so on. It saves electricity, and can also improve the growth rate of plants, which is more conducive to prolonging the lifespan, and the light bulb can be flexibly and quickly achieved full brightness. Glass optical silver-plated reflector, reflectivity up to 99%, wide reflective surface, adjustable three-layer reflective aluminum sheet, allowing you to freely control the range of light refraction, providing ample light for your plants rhythmically.
GAVITA PRO CMH 315E 4200K VEG GROW LIGHT FIXTURE
The Gavita Pro 315e SE is equipped with a Philips 315W 3000° Kelvin light (for flowering) or 4200° Kelvin light (for plants or supplemental use). It is a compact clamp with a new reflector mounting system: instead of a bracket holding the reflector on both sides, the reflector clips onto the ballast housing itself. This reduces size and weight, facilitates replacement, and provides optimal positioning and stability for small reflectors. Ideal for fixed installations using brackets on Unistrut (Type C) systems, the Repeater Bus cabling system allows you to daisy-chain fixtures in your installation. A repeater bus interconnect cable is included with each fixture. Each main controller port can connect 5 strings of 100 lamps. This allows you to control up to 1000 fixtures on one EL2 controller.
ECO FARM DIGITAL 630W SINGLE ENDED CMH GROW LIGHT KIT DIMMABLE LIGHT FOR GREENHOUSE
ECO Farm single-ended 630W ceramic metal halide light fixtures bring you the best in high intensity lighting and efficiency! This horizontally mounted CMH provides more of the UV and spectrum plants love to help make your next growth the best it can be! These fixtures are ideal for all stages of the growth cycle. The increased far-red spectrum of the CMH 630 makes it an excellent light source for flowering and supplementary greenhouse lighting. Running at 630 watts, the ceramic metal halide provides ample light with a much lower thermal footprint VS. Traditional grow room setup! Grow like a pro.
FLEXSTAR HYDROPONIC 1000W DIMMABLE DOUBLE ENDED FIXTURE
FlexStar hydroponics units allow growers to create the ideal lighting environment during each step of plant development, thereby increasing their vigor, health and yield. The high efficiency of double ended (DE) lighting fixtures makes them ideal for professional and amateur growers. The FlexStar system combines the high efficiency of a double-ended fixture with a premium Vega aluminum embossed reflector with 95% reflectivity. The reflector can be adjusted to 3 positions to increase illumination intensity or cover wider surfaces. The system intensity can be easily adjusted to 600W/750W/1000W/1150W power with a knob for more control over the lighting. FlexStar is the first product on the market that can control lighting surfaces. Through its unique design, FlexStar increases lighting efficiency as well as plant growth and development.
conclusion:
CMH vs. MH
First of all, Ceramic Metal Halide and Metal Halide bulbs are not the same thing.Even if they share a lot of the same technology they have fundamental differences in the way they’re constructed and how they operate. You can’t just use your new CMH bulb in your old MH ballast. Trying to do so would be very dangerous. For comparison purposes, the only disadvantage I can think of CMH over MH is the initial cost. With that said we’ve made it clear that CMH has a much better overall spectrum than MH, especially with that red boost at both 3100k and 4000k spectrums. CMH also run cooler, and produce a lot more PAR light when compared watt per watt.
