A new update for the Wii U version will bring Mario, Luigi and Wario, Toad, Princess Peach, as well as many other Super Mario Bros characters, to the game from next Tuesday.

The best part is that these colorful characters are free in these days of expensive downloadable content.

The Mario pack will bring more than just characters to the world of pixelated Minecraft.

You can also re-skin the game's objects and textures and take on more difficult versions of Hammer Bros. or Dry Bones. All while listening to the soothing sounds of Super Mario 64.

Fans will be able to create their own locations from Mario-themed Minecraft blocks, before exploring new worlds with classic characters (albeit slightly more aggressive) from one of the most renowned games of all time.

A disc-based version of Minecraft for Wii U, including all the Mario extras is expected to launch in June.

Minecraft has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and is the third best-selling video game of all time.
