The Minecraft RTS Spinoff is Inventing new Enemies, Too

Like Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs that are compatible with Minecraft.

Minecraft Legends creative director Magnus Nedfors and executive producer Dennis Ries sat down during the Xbox booth livestream at Gamescom this week to provide some new information on Legends which include information on some new mobs-both friend and foe. Like its previous genre experiments, Mojang and Blackbird Interactive's new RTS spinoff will make its own mark on the Minecraft world. Dungeons broke the rules of Minecraft legend to create mobs that be appropriate for its action RPG world, and Legends is also doing the same.

As we saw in the initial reveal trailer, the big baddies of Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether denizens, the Piglins. While we're used to Piglins and Hoglins in Vanilla Minecraft, Legends is adding a "Pigmadillo," which crouches down into a cube, and, despite what you'd assume in light of the physics of a cube it is able to roll offensively towards the object it's trying to attack. Ries also mentions that there are "Bruisers" which come with two razor blades. Bit horror-esque, innit? The latest trailer for Mojang's cinematic film features mobs of both kinds.

On the friendly side, you will find two types of golems in your army: the Cobblestone Golem who is great at taking down structures of enemies and the Plank Golem which Ries calls a "Plank Golem", which is an armed unit that can be ranged. You can also make use of speed wheat and a specific mushroom to jump up to a higher level to travel across the globe and unlock new Legends areas.

Minecraft Dungeons also introduced new mobs like the Iceologers or Mountaineers. The Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote to choose which mob to add Vanilla Minecraft to Vanilla Minecraft included the Iceologers. They lost to Glow Squid, however I'd like to see one of these Legends baddies have the same chance to achieve Vanilla Mine fame.

In case you didn't realize there's badgers in the trailer too. Project Badger was the codename of Minecraft Legends before it was made public. It could be a reference to. But , who knows, maybe it'll be able to make it to mob status as well.
