The Minecraft RTS Spinoff is Inventing new Enemies, Too.

Like Minecraft Dungeons, Legends is creating new mobs for Minecraft.

Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends director of creative Magnus Nedfors, Minecraft Legends' creative director, and Dennis Ries, executive producer were on the Xbox booth livestream this week during Gamescom to discuss some details about Legends. They also shared information on new mobs that can be both friend and foe. Mojang Interactive and Blackbird Interactive are launching a new RTS spinoff that will make its mark in the Minecraft world, just like previous genres. Dungeons broke the rules of Minecraft legend to create mobs that would be suitable for its action RPG universe, and Legends is following suit.

As we learned in its first trailer The main villains of Minecraft Legends are the familiar Nether inhabitants which are the Piglins. Legends will also add the "Pigmadillo" to the mix. This is an animal that is seated in a cube and contrary to what you might believe based on the geometrical structure of a cube's physics, moves in a way that is offensive to the area it is attempting to attack. There are also "Bruisers" that Ries points out come with two razor blades to use. Bit horror-esque, innit? Both new mobs make an appearance in the brand new trailer that Mojang presented.

On the side of friendship two kinds of golem will join your ranks: the Cobblestone Golem, who is apparently great for taking down enemy structures, and what it is sounded like Ries calls a "Plank Golem" which is an armed unit that can be ranged. They also refer to something called speed wheat as well as an specialized type of mushroom for jumping extra high that you can use to travel around the world and unlock new areas in Legends.

Minecraft Dungeons also introduced new mobs like the Iceologers or Mountaineers. The Iceologers were included in the Minecraft Live 2020 fan vote for which mob to add to Vanilla Minecraft. They were defeated by the Glow Squid, but I wouldn't be surprised to see one of these new Legends baddies given the same chance to achieve Vanilla Minecraft fame.

And in case you missed it, there is definitely badgers at the start of the trailer too.dk's blog Project Badger was the codename of Minecraft Legends before it was announced. It could just be a nod to. It may even be granted an official mob status.
