'Minecraft' is Getting Ready to Go To China

The world's Minecraft players log hundreds of hours in Minecraft each day, but not gamers in China. Mojang is a Minecraft developer, has announced today that it's creating an updated version of the game that is specifically for Chinese players. The partnership with Chinese internet company NetEase is what allowed this development to be made possible, the very same NetEase that operates games like World of Warcraft and Hearthstone in China already.

There's no release date for the game as of yet, and no further details regarding what modifications to the main game are necessary for the Chinese market. What we do know is the Chinese version will only be available for mobile and PC platforms not consoles when it finally comes out.

"We are thrilled to bring Minecraft to Chinese players, and we expect our huge online community to take to this game of a lifetime," William Ding, CEO and founder of NetEase, Inc. announced. "With our deep understanding of the Chinese market and our ability to successfully launch world-class mobile and online games We provide a solid platform to introduce Minecraft to China's huge player base."
