1. Telegram Basics
You can write to people who are in your phone contacts and have Telegram. Another way to contact people is to enter their Telegram username in the search field - you don't need to know their phone number to do this.

2. Who can contact me?
If people know your phone number or you message them first, they can contact you in Chinese.
If they don't know your phone number, they can find you when:
When you are both members of the same group.
If you set a public username. Others can use global search and find you by your username.
If you choose to appear in the "Nearby People" section (off by default).
Q: How do I know who in my contacts has Telegram?
Your contacts with Telegram in Chinese appear at the top of your contacts. They also have pictures.

3. How to invite my friends?
TelegramIOS: The basic invitation is a simple text message. They will be billed by your carrier as standard outgoing SMS (unless sent via iMessage). Of course, you have other options to bring your friends here. Try sending them a download link via any other messaging service: email, Facebook, WhatsApp, actual Telegram - you name it.

TelegramAndroid: Open the app menu (swipe right in the chat list) > Invite friends. Then choose an app through which you want to send invitations.

You can give your friends a t.me link with your username so they can easily find you on Telegram even if they don't have your phone number.

4. What does the check mark mean?
One check - the message is sent to the Telegram cloud and your friend will be notified if he allows notifications.
Two checks - message is read (your friend opens Telegram Chinese and opens a conversation with the message).
We don't have a "sent to device" status for messages because Telegram can run on as many devices as you want. So which specific does this check mean?
Can I hide my "last seen" time?
You can choose who can see this information in your privacy and security settings.

Remember, you won't see the last seen timestamp of someone you didn't share with. However, you will see an approximate last seen value. This keeps the stalker away, but sees if a person can be reached via Telegram Chinese. There are four possible approximations:

Last seen last - covers anywhere from 1 second to 2-3 days
Last seen within a week - 2-3 to 7 days
Last seen within a month - between 6-7 days and a month
Last seen a long time ago - over a month (this also always shows up to blocked users)

5. Who can see me "online"?
The last rule seen also applies to your online status. People can only see you online if you share your last seen status with them.

There are some exceptions because it is sometimes obvious that you are online. Regardless of the Last Seen setting, people will see you online for a short period of time (~30 seconds) if you:

Message them in a one-on-one chat or in a group where you are both members.
Read the messages they send you in one-on-one chats.
Broadcast a "typing..." status to their chats with you or to groups you are both members of.
If you don't share your last seen timestamp with someone and don't do any of the above, they'll never see you online. Another way to do this is to block the person.

6. What are the people nearby?
People Nearby is an optional feature that allows Telegram users to explore local groups, find friends in their area to chat with, or quickly exchange contacts with people close to them. You can find it in Contacts > Find People Nearby or directly in Telegram Android's side menu. When you open the "Nearby People" section on your screen, people who are very close will be able to see you there. If you don't open that section, others will never see you in People Nearby. You can also choose to permanently add your profile to the list of people nearby by clicking Make myself visible. Once visible, you can remove your profile from the list at any time by clicking Stop showing me.

Note: Nearby is never turned on by default - the user must manually enable it. Iftelegramreceive a message from someone you don't know, see Q: Who can contact me?

7. Can I delete my messages?
Yes. You can delete any message you've sent or received for both parties in any one-on-one conversation at any time (in a group, it's still just your own message). You can also clear the entire chat history on both ends. On Telegram, deleted messages are not marked in chats.

Together with the privacy settings for forwarding messages, this makes exchanging Telegram messages similar to a face-to-face conversation (without a tape recorder). Therefore, users no longer need to worry about the data accumulated in chats over the years. Both parties in the conversation have complete control over what is and isn't part of their online identity.

Can I make calls through Telegram Chinese?

Yes! You can make end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls.

If you need more participants, try starting a voice chat in one of the groups you created. Voice chat adds a real-time layer of ad hoc conversation to groups. They can be used as virtual office spaces for teams or informal lounges in any neighborhood. While voice chats aren't group calls, they can accomplish similar goals.

8. How to use emoji?
Type a word into your input field to get related emoji suggestions. You can also type ":" followed by any keyword to open an emoji search - like :heart. You can use this interface to suggest missing emoji keywords for your language (this will open English suggestions, don't forget to change to your language in the left menu).
