The Canton's First Monday Trade Days


First Monday Trade Days may be a known event around East Texas, but that doesn't mean that it can't keep hundreds of millions of visitors to the City of Canton for four days each month. It's open from Thursday to Sunday preceding the day of First Monday every month hundreds of vendors set up shop with hundreds of opportunities for shopping.


What started more than a century ago as a flea market , has since become home to some of the coolest, cutting-edge home furnishings, antiques and collectibles found anywhere. Overcanton flea market , lots of things have changed at that Original First Monday Park; but the genuine, down-home relationship between sellers and buyers are the main reason people keep returning.

December 2nd - 5th



According to site of First Monday Trade Days website it is one of the oldest and largest constantly operating outdoor flea market throughout the United States.


According the folks in on the street, the concept that led to the idea of First Monday Trade Days started in the early 1850's, when the circuit judge was able to take a journey from Canton on the first Monday of every month. Everyone from across the county came to Canton to take part in court cases. In time, residents would bring the items they had brought, whether it was livestock, produce as well as other objects of origin, to sell or trade. Then in 1965, First Monday outgrew the town's Town Square so it was moved to its current grounds. And the rest is history...


First Monday Trade Days is made up of a variety of private sellers . So chances are, regardless of how many times you visit you'll never see all of it. The flea market is located on a vast area with over 700,00 square foot of shopping.


Attending First Monday is free, but the majority parking lots that surround the trade ground charge $5 to park.
