QuickBooks’ Memorized Transaction Feature is a Great Way to Save Time Managing Small Business Finances

Why do so many QuickBooks users overlook the remembered transactions feature? I'm not sure, but make sure you don't make that error. While some of QuickBooks' various capabilities can be perplexing or unpleasant, the Quickbooks Memorized Transactions feature is everything but and can save time in all aspects of QuickBooks.

Here's how to use QuickBooks' remembered transaction feature:

  • When you have a transaction open or highlighted on the account ledger that you want to memorise, go to Edit/Memorize Transaction or simply right click on the transaction and select Memorize.

NOTE: If you're remembering an invoice, the menu choice may change to "Memorize Invoice," and if you're memorising a bill, the menu option may change to "Memorize Bill."

  • A Memorize Transaction window will open automatically in QuickBooks. You can then choose whether or not you want QuickBooks to automatically enter the transaction (you can specify how and when), as well as whether or not you want QuickBooks to remind you about it.

  • You can alter and re-memorize an entry once it has been memorised. This is yet another useful example of the function's utility.

You can memorise the following transactions:

  • Entries in the journal

  • Automatic entry for prepayments and accruals

  • Invoices \sBills

  • Debit card activity

  • Use of a credit card

  • Payments for rent

  • The list goes on and on.
