Step 1: Register an account
An account is required to start a server. Those are very easy to create: First you must enter on "https://aternos.org/signup/". There you can select a username.
Next, you'll need to create a password. Then, you can repeat it. You can also connect to your Google account for the same password.
Step 2: Create your server.
Once you are logged in, you can start creating your server. To get started, simply press the "+ create a server" button.
Now we can put a name and a description to our server or you can use the default ones. (NOTE - If Java Edition is not enabled, the tutorial won't work!
Step 3: Configure your server.
SETTING UP OUR SERVER BEFORE OPENING IT. This is a complicated part so I recommend that you go through the steps several times.
To begin, go to the left-hand side of the screen. There should be a menu with various sections. Click on "Options".
The first thing that we see is a small menu for changing everything from Step 2, add an image to the server, buy a custom domain, restart all files and servers.
Below is a larger menu with the basic settings. These are:
Max Players - This setting changes the maximum number of players allowed to enter the server. - Gamemode - Changes the default spawn gamemode. - Difficulty- Changes the difficulty level in the world.
- Whitelist: Toggle the verified players list.
- Cracked- Toggle if you allow non-premium members to join your server (Skins will not be disabled).
- PvP- Toggle to see if users can fight.
- Command blocks - Check if the command block is available.
- Flight - Toggle whether users can fly.
- Animals - See if passive creatures are possible to spawn anywhere in the world.
Monsters Toggle if aggressive creatures can be spawned around the world.
- NPCs Toggle if villages can spawn anywhere in the world.
- Nether Toggle if nether is possible.
Force Gamemode Toggle if a specific gamemode is required.
Spawn Protection: Change the invencibility time for user respawns.
- Require a Resource Pack - Attach an appropriate resource/texture pack on your server.
- Resource Pack URL - Link for "Require Resource Pack" option.
- Timezone Select the timezone from server.
- Environment - Select Java version.
- OP Permission level - Choose the OP level between 1 and 4.
Click on "Software". You can now choose the type of Minecraft you want to play (Vanilla or modded, with plugins).
