Veloren, the Open-source Multiplayer Voxel RPG, is Slated for a Major Release

Do you want to try a new high-quality free and open source game? Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Dwarf Fortress, Cube World, and Minecraft. Created in the fancy Rust coding language, Veloren has grown massively in the last year, and is slowly evolving into what could be the next truly big FOSS game.

Some of what's new in this release include:

- Climbing Speed and Cost New Skills - Pickaxes can be used to mine gems or weak rock. Jumping out of rolls can give you a boost. It is also possible to jump out of rolls. Dungeons now have a variety of stairs. Trades now display item prices in tooltips. - Attacks now emit sound effects from the target after a hit. Crafting menu tabs are now available - Auto camera setting, making the game more enjoyable with just one hand. Topographic map option Search bars for social and crafting window - Villagers and guards are now spawned with potions, and are able to make use of them. Combat music in the dungeons when they are within range of enemies. - One handed weapons can now be used and found in the world - Players can now opt-in to server-authoritiative physics in gameplay settings. - Sort inventory button - crafting stations in towns Missing translations can be displayed in English. Large birds NPCS are now available. You can now block with melee weapons, and parry with a melee weapons. Glider lift is calculated based on dimension (currently the same for all)- Towns can now only play specific music tracks. Map markers that are custom made are now available mountain lake and peak markers can be placed on the map. Minimap mode added to shows the terrain within a chunk.farming is a profession of hope Chat tabs - NPC's now hear certain sounds

This is only a small part of the extensive and long changelog for the 0.10.0 version.

Download it from the Veloren website. You can download it in a variety of ways, including a direct-download with an application which keeps it up-to-date, Flatpak, Snap, and many other options. If you do decide to download it today there's a launch party on the official server going on, seems like it could be a lot of fun and the download is quite small , so it won't occupy much space.
