Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine medication and one of several drugs used for anxiety symptoms. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety. Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety disorders, trouble sleeping, active seizures including status epilepticus, acute intermittent porphyria, alcohol withdrawal symptoms and nausea/vomiting due to chemotherapy.
