Minecraft has been around for quite a while now, and its popularity is constantly growing, but since it's official release on November 18th 2011 many servers have exploded, died and disappeared. The Novylen Minecraft Server located in Canada has the official title of oldest Minecraft Server ever built, on April 9th, 2010, 4 months ahead of the previous owner, MinecraftOnline. If you go back, you'll see that MinecraftOnline was released on the same day multiplayer was launched. What was the reason Novylen developed prior to this?
Although the server was created on the same day Minecraft Multiplayer was launched it was developed by rbos in Minecraft's InfDev period (specifically InfDev 2010.0413), which was four months prior to the release of Minecraft Multiplayer. The server has never been reset. This means that a player could have hopped onto the server more than 10 years ago, built something, and then gone for good, with their creation being the only evidence of their existence. Novylen is also less popular than 2b2t, which means that it hasn't suffered the same fate of numerous hacks, flimsy exploits and griefs. This has led to many of the original creations that were released in 2010 still being used even today!

Nerd.nu was created for the first time on June 10, 2009, only three days after Minecraft's official Multiplayer release Version 0.0.16a. Survival mode was not yet a feature of Minecraft at the time of its launch. Nerd.nu has hosted many Minecraft creations, as you can see in the above image. There have been a variety of game modes added to the server over the years. The most popular and longest-running one is theone called 'Creative that allows players to fly and build whatever they want.
Although the server was created in the beginning, some argue that MinecraftOnline is a lot older than it is. This is because the map has been reset several times over the years, which means it's not the same place as it was 20 years ago.Minecraft Creative Serversdeveloped by Nerd.nu is currently at its 36th revision. It has been reset 35 times prior to that.

MinecraftOnline was launched on August 4 on the 4th of August, 2010 and has been in operation since then. It was created within an hour of Notch releasing survival mode. Since this time, incredibly the server has remained up and running and has not been reset once. It's not like the conglomerate cobblestone 2b2t has created.
It's amazing that the server has had a staff since the beginning and, unlike 2b2t MinecraftOnline has rules that players must follow. However, this doesn't mean that everyone must adhere to the rules. In the 12 years that MinecraftOnline was in existence, more than 43,000 users were banned. But it's not just that. The world's size (remember, it has never been reset) has reached 26GB, just one world.

2b2t is among the most popular Minecraft servers. Since its creation at the end of December 2010 2b2t has been notorious as an 'anarchy' server, with an utter lack of rules and thousands of players using hacked clients, an absence of friendliness and a distinct and beaten-up terrain. The server's most notable feature is its map. It has not been changed since it was established. This means that countless players have left and come back throughout the years, leaving their marks on the server forever.
In the beginning 2b2t saw a steady stream of players, fluctuating between 10-80 over the years. The change came in June of 2016, however, when the well-known YouTuber TheCampingRusher uploaded his first video. The server has been utilized by many other YouTubers making 2b2t a highly popular website. In 2022, the server has more than 1000 users at the peak hours, and it doesn't seem like that number will decrease any time soon.
