South Korean game company NCSoft has announced that its latest cross-platform MMORPG "Lineage W" will be available worldwide on November 4, 2021 in the first regions, which include Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Russia and the Middle East. Lineage W will then expand its service areas to North America, South America and Europe. The game will be available on Android, iOS, PC (via Purple), PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PS5.
The pre-registration process for Lineage W, which started two months ago, is still in progress on the official website, Google Play, and Apple App Store. Pre-registered users can also reserve their desired character names on the website for the game.
Lineage W is a sequel of Lineage 1, an MMORPG that was released in 1998 with 2D isometric overhead graphics. The story takes place 150 years after the events of Lineage. Lineage W is almost identical to a remastered version the original game with full 3D graphics (developed using Unreal Engine 4) and the use of a quarter-view camera.
It also features the dark fantasy theme, the cell/grid combat system and a battle system that offers enhanced strike feedback, a rich storyline, as well as improved content for pledges or alliances. The game's website contains information about the four classes: Monarch, Knight Elf, Mage, and Elf.
Lineage W also has an "global battle community." Players from all over the world can collaborate and compete on one battleground (server). It also supports 'AI translation,' which enables real-time communication between players who speak different languages, and a 'Voice to Text' which converts speech to text.
According to Lineage W's second presentation, the game's initial content will be diverse including magic dolls that are even cute, dice games, tax wagon convoy missions, teleport treasure hunts and gathering events.
The company also stated that it will not provide monthly subscriptions such as Einhasad's Blessing or other products that are related to XP. Einhasad's Blessing is an in-game purchase, boosts the rate of acquisition for Adena (the game currency), experience points and tradable items. Other systems, like guard stars, symbols and spirit engraving, will not be included in the Lineage W.
It also stated that it would support players-to-player trading. The game lets players trade items or buy and sell each other's items in real-time. NCSoft has significantly reduced private trading fees. The market for trade will also be accessible.
Lineage W will be released on November 4 2021. It will launch on Android, iOS, as PC platforms. It will be made available for the PlayStation 5 in 2022, and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
