Glue trap seals 28-day search in north Raleigh for venomous zebra cobra.


Despite the efforts of animal control officers and law enforcement,a venomous zebra cobra was captured on Wednesday night by a glue trap,capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
We guided the cobra into a red bucket and took it to a safe location so that we could fully remove the glue from its body.
The WRAL cameras captured the striped snake crawling out of the siding of a Sandringham Drive house, onto the front porch. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.

After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
Early Tuesday, early Tuesday morning, a 911 call from inside the same house sparked the search.

North Carolina. Following hours of consultation and preparation by police and animal control officers,a zebra cobra was caught on a Raleigh porch on Wednesday night,capping an unusual 48-hour saga that garnered national attention.
Cobra was placed in red bucket and moved to a safe location to fully remove glue from its body.
A striped snake was spotted earlier in the day crawling out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive, onto the front porch of a house. Lifting its head, it was able to see its hood.
After confirming it was the snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back before moving in to capture it.
This same residence had called 911 early Tuesday, sparking the search.

It was a relief to neighbor Joan Nelson to have the ordeal over.
I feel much safer and I am really happy, she said. My deck and I have become more comfortable outside now. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.

Tuesday afternoon, police searched a home at 6917 Chamonix Place, near the last location where the cobra was spotted.
A police officer visited that home four times in March for an animal issue. The zebra cobra was spotted on a porch a half mile away on Monday and Tuesday.
There are records in the county indicating Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address. In a Facebook profile associated with Keith Gifford's name, there are several pictures of snakes he says his son Christopher owns.
The TikTok account of Christopher Gifford has over 460000 followers. The author of the post claims to have a seven-foot zebra cobra.
