How To Unlock The Secret Cow Level In Diablo 2 Resurrected

If you’ve been playing this game for some time now or the original Diablo 2, you must have heard about the secret cow level or the cow king. This infamous hidden zone contains armies of halberd-wielding Hell Bovines that swarm players, plus the goofily named Cow King boss.

The secret cow level is not an easy area; weaker characters are likely to be cornered and crushed by the carnivorous cattle. But it does have a lot of rather nice d2r items to be found should the player survive long enough. To create the portal into the secret cow level, you must first beat Baal on your current difficulty. The level exists on Normal, Nightmare, and Hell, but you need to kill Baal on each difficulty to access their respective cow levels.

Then, combine a Tome of Town Portal with Wirt’s Leg in the Horadric Cube while in the Rogue Encampment. Wirt’s leg is fittingly found on Wirt’s Corpse, which rests in the northwest corner of Tristram. Combine the two items, and a portal into the cow level will appear.

In the original Diablo 2, once players killed the Cow King, players would not be able to open a new portal again on the difficulty they killed the Cow King on. For example, if you killed it in Nightmare, you would have to repeat the process in Hell to enter the secret cow level again, and once that was over, you would require another player to open the portal for you.

This has changed in Diablo 2 Resurrected, as players will no longer be locked out by killing the Cow King. This means players can enjoy the secret cow level repeatedly, which was one of the best leveling spots.
