What is An Anchor Line Called?
In the previous decade, synthetic winch ropes have come a long way. They're light, have a small amount of kinetic energy stored when pressured, and last a long period. Because of the increased level of safety they provide, many sanctioned off-road activities have begun to demand them. While it isn't true that they "drop" when they fail, they do have a lot less weight snapping back towards your vehicle. The proper use of a winch line damper, as well as maintaining a "Anchor Line" for everyone involved in the rescue process, are still suggested. Synthetic winch line can kink and grow burrs with time, offering a minimal hazard to exposed skin. Despite being prone to corrosion, they have a longer service life than synthetics.
