What is a Cabinet Cooler?

Our panel coolers for electrical cabinets are an easy, reliable and affordable way to cool or climatize any type of enclosures and panels. Supreme Air Electrical Panel Cooler uses compressed air to create hot and cold air streams. The coolers require only compressed air to work, so there is no need for harmful refrigerants and freon gas. With large cooling capacities of up to 7200 BTUs, they provide the perfect solution for quick and effective cooling in numerous types of electrical cabinets and enclosures.

How does a Cabinet Cooler work?

The cooler mounts vertically on top of the cabinet through a standard knockout hole. The cooler comes with a locking ring that locks it in place.

A compressed air line hooks up to the cooler by threading a 1/4 NPT fitting to the air inlet.
As compressed air enters the cooler, the integrated vortex tube separates the air into hot and cold air streams.
The hot stream from the vortex tube is exhausted into the atmosphere by passing through a muffler which ensures low noise levels.
Through an outlet tube at the bottom, cold air is drawn into the cabinet.
As the cold stream enters the electrical cabinet, the hot air within the cabinet starts to rise and is gradually purged through the cooler.
An optional cold air distribution kit is also available. This connects to the coolers outlet tube and allows users to direct the cold stream to hot spots in the cabinet. Supreme Air Products' electrical panel coolers have been made of stainless steel for durability.

Specifications for Cabinet Coolers

Mounting:

Supreme Air Products(tm), Cabinet Cooler must always be mounted vertically on a flat surface. An electrical cabinet cooler unit is easy to install through a 1-1/8'' diameter drilled hole or an electrical knockout and is held in place by a locking ring. We offer additional side mount kits for instances where coolers cannot be mounted on the top of the cabinet due to height restrictions.

Humidity:

It is crucial to seal off all openings and vents that could allow in ambient air, particularly in hot or humid environments. Cabinet Coolers that are continuously in operation maintain a relative humidity of 45%.

Filtration:

All lines that supply power to the Cabinet Cooler should be run through clean, filtered air. We recommend a 5 micron auto drain filter. Proper filtration is imperative to prevent any accidental water flow into the enclosure. Use an oil filter that has a minimum of 0.3 micron rating if oil is found in compressed air.

Environment Considerations

NEMA 4/4X (IP56) - Designed for Electrical Control Panels - Splash resistant, oil-tight, and dust-proof for use in wash down environments as well as outdoor use. For long-lasting use in wet environments, coolers are made of Type 304 Stainless Steel.

NEMA 12 (IP52 - Cabinet Coolers are oil-tight and dust-proof. They can be used in environments that allow liquids to not come into direct contact with the unit. To withstand extreme corrosive environments, coolers are made of Type 304 Stainless Steel.
