WRUP: Regime Change Version

Common readers of the site know that the upper administration is being shifted round right here at Massively, that means that Brianna Royce will now be in charge. Whereas we'll all the time miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the location, the change will seemingly seem invisible to most readers.

I, for one, want to welcome our new overlord, for whom I don't have anything but respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header image occurs to be of her favourite animal. Additionally, I could have despatched various present baskets of fruit to her house. And I am certain we can all agree that earlier cases of tomfoolery shouldn't be taken into consideration when she now considers that she has complete power over me.

Moving on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively employees explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not or not a graphical improve would bring us again to our first MMOs. Try our plans past the break, and let us know what you will be as much as within the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I will be settling down on a new deed in Wurm Online, persevering with to grind my teeth as I look forward to my new Computer to get here, and putting my exploration cash where my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that appears very... totally different. I'm also nonetheless gathering my record of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Luckily I nonetheless have most of my previous accounts!

If I up to date any graphics for some of my favourite video games, that would mean a downgrade for lots of them. I need graphics which can be extra stylized, particularly like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I'd like to see a "serious" recreation executed with a more stylized flair. Wurm Online can keep how it is, however I actually wish to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, however boy, I am unable to wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I will be entertaining a visiting Swedish buddy from my outdated World of Warcraft guild, working arduous on Predestination, and trying to convince my housemates to play extra Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have really introduced me again a number of instances. I began again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary large 3-D update hooked me again in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are definitely the first thing I look for. EVE Online has the same effect, with massive graphical updates pulling individuals again in to attempt the game once more.

@nbrianna: I will be dividing my game time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it's the perfect time to roll up a new character in time for the Positron's Ally occasion subsequent week.

My first MMO was Ultima On-line, and graphical upgrades did convey me back many instances. That game has had extra improved clients than any MMO I do know... however these upgraded shoppers usually get abandoned by the workforce earlier than they're finished as a result of many of the veterans simply refuse to modify. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the ever-widespread Providing Help to a Cherished One with a Cold. At some point I will really play Guild Wars 2 for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I'm fortunate, it will likely be before the tip of the decade.

I'm really the flawed individual to ask about returning to a sport for a graphical improve because graphics have never been what's turned me off from a sport. I didn't initially leave Closing Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left as a result of the sport wasn't actually enjoyable to play. If I see signs that the sport I did not like X amount of time in the past has gotten better, I will come working right again, however putting a new coat of paint on a sport I wasn't enjoying doesn't lure me again.

@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I commit my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd prefer to hit 80 by the center of the upcoming week, so I will be doing quite a lot of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, but I've obtained a whole agenda plotted out for my non permanent "fundamental" after she hits 80, not to mention a little roster of who's in need of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Perhaps some The secret World.

I return and play all of my previous MMOs anyway regardless of updates, though I am very a lot trying ahead to Anarchy On-line's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do record is a mile large at this level. I actually need to place a cap on Volume III E-book 6 in Lord of the Rings On-line, check out the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get through Egypt in The key World, and make the massive bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, nicely, if Anarchy On-line ever gets that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you can guess I will be first in line. It might be nice to see what a barely extra up to date AO would look like.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I am busy with a household journey, but in any spare time I've, I'm going to log into RIFT and cling out subsequent to Atrophinius in the Autumn occasion simply to listen to his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I'll most likely pop intoMinecraftwith the youngsters so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I would be more prone to return if the sport actually reverted again to the old graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have bought some mutual friends coming to remain for the weekend. Because of this, my gaming time might be going to be occupied more by cut up-display screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But if the chance arises, I'll be splitting my time between The key World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima On-line if either one obtained a graphical update? That's a great query. I wish to say yes, however I do not know if I would be telling the truth. I beloved UO and EQ again in the day, but I think it could take a bit greater than a graphical upgrade to make me a participant once more. For every charmingly dated function that I fondly remember, there's a plethora of really archaic design choices that I don't suppose I'd be able to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to sport this weekend!! *nearly faints with excitement* How a lot can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Choose my Journey, so The key World shall be on hold until Monday. (By the best way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 more (I really want to check out an Asura), begin plotting extra for my EverQuest II neighborhood purchasing district as well as take in a number of dungeons, and spread my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and perhaps even get a couple of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I'd go back in the event that they'd turn the blasted servers again on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been playing extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you realize what that is), in addition to League of Legends. I'm presently carrying as Graves, though I am pretty positive those studying my column already know that. It feels good to play more airdash fighters, though; I really feel like a little bit of a void has been crammed in my gamer heart.

To ensure that me to go back to EQ, it could take a better game, not a graphical update. Actually, graphical updates mean almost nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 were on high of the GW2 engine, I would nonetheless be down for playing it. Excessive-quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I can be jumping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a number of Foundry missions to talk about on my UGC podcast. I will even be in Lord of the Rings Online as I discover it very enjoyable to farm and craft in that game. If time allows, I will likely be again in Glitch as properly. And yes, the rumors are true: Some individuals are twisting my arm to present Guild Wars 2 a strive. I might pick it up this weekend.

I am really glad this week's query would not apply to me. My first MMO continues to be my favorite, and it is an exquisite recreation -- Star Trek On-line!

Initially of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively employees members and ask them, "What are you taking part in this week?" (In any other case referred to as: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us within the comments to tell us what you are enjoying, too!
