Minecraft Java And Bedrock Editions Are No More Distinct

We hope that you're not too dependent on either of the Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions of one of the most popular building games available on PC because Microsoft and Mojang have confirmed that both will cease to exist on June 7 and be replaced with the Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition, so you don't have to download them separately.

You may be confused by the existence of two versions of Minecraft on PC and Mac, the Java and Bedrock versions. PCGamesN offers a useful guide to clarify the differences between the two versions. If you have purchased one, you won't have access to the other. This is kind of crazy.

Mojang and Microsoft are clearly in agreement with their announcement. They have announced (thanks to Neowin) the Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. This single-purchase edition of Minecraft on PC replaces separate editions. It will be available on the 7th of June and will be "the standard and sole offering of the vanilla Minecraft for Windows PC."

Anyone with either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. The upgrade is automatic, although it may take up to three days for all eligible players to see the game.

Mojang confirms that "Java and Bedrock will remain distinct games with distinct features," with the only difference is that you don't need to buy them separately and you can play both on the same Minecraft launcher. Good news all-around, really except for those who recently bought both separately. It will make the process of downloading Minecraft much simpler.
