Common readers of the site know that the upper administration is being shifted round right here at Massively, that means that Brianna Royce will now be in cost. While we'll at all times miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the site, the change will probably appear invisible to most readers.

I, for one, wish to welcome our new overlord, for whom I have nothing however respect and admiration. By full coincidence, this week's header image happens to be of her favourite animal. Additionally, I may have despatched quite a few gift baskets of fruit to her house. And I am certain we will all agree that earlier instances of tomfoolery should not be taken under consideration when she now considers that she has full energy over me.

Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, featuring the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not a graphical upgrade would bring us back to our first MMOs. Check out our plans past the break, and tell us what you may be as much as within the comments!

@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a brand new deed in Wurm Online, continuing to grind my teeth as I wait for my new Laptop to get here, and putting my exploration money the place my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It's a social MMO that appears very... different. I am also still gathering my listing of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Luckily I still have most of my previous accounts!

If I updated any graphics for some of my favourite games, that will mean a downgrade for lots of them. I would like graphics which can be more stylized, significantly like these in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I might like to see a "serious" sport executed with a more stylized aptitude. Wurm Online can keep how it's, but I really want to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, however boy, I am unable to wait!

@nyphur: This weekend I'll be entertaining a visiting Swedish good friend from my previous World of Warcraft guild, working laborious on Predestination, and trying to convince my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!

My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have actually brought me back a number of occasions. I started again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the first massive 3-D update hooked me again in for a number of months. I've returned periodically to see what the game is like, and the graphics are definitely the first thing I search for. EVE Online has the identical impact, with large graphical updates pulling individuals back in to try the sport again.

@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my recreation time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it is the proper time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally event subsequent week.

My first MMO was Ultima On-line, and graphical upgrades did deliver me back many occasions. That game has had more improved shoppers than any MMO I know... but those upgraded clients usually get abandoned by the team earlier than they're completed as a result of a lot of the veterans simply refuse to switch. Very irritating!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and the ever-fashionable Offering Help to a Beloved One with a Cold. In some unspecified time in the future I'll truly play Guild Wars 2 for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I am fortunate, it is going to be earlier than the top of the decade.

I am really the unsuitable particular person to ask about returning to a recreation for a graphical improve as a result of graphics have never been what's turned me off from a game. I did not initially depart Ultimate Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left as a result of the sport wasn't truly enjoyable to play. If I see signs that the sport I did not like X amount of time ago has gotten higher, I am going to come running proper again, but placing a new coat of paint on a recreation I wasn't having fun with does not lure me back.

@elixabethclaire: The secret World continues to be on pause for me as I commit my time to Guild Wars 2. I'd like to hit 80 by the center of the upcoming week, so I'll be doing lots of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, however I've acquired an entire agenda plotted out for my non permanent "important" after she hits 80, not to mention a little bit roster of who is in need of leveling after her.

Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Possibly some The key World.

I go back and play all of my outdated MMOs anyway regardless of updates, although I am very a lot looking ahead to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin.

@Sypster: My MMO to do list is a mile broad at this level. I really need to place a cap on Volume III E book 6 in Lord of the Rings Online, try the new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by Egypt in The secret World, and make the large bucks in Guild Wars 2.

As for graphical upgrades, nicely, if Anarchy Online ever will get that newfangled redux off the bottom, then you can wager I will be first in line. It'd be great to see what a barely more up to date AO would appear to be.

@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a household journey, however in any spare time I have, I will log into RIFT and dangle out subsequent to Atrophinius in the Autumn instance simply to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Other than that, I'll probably pop into Minecraft with the youngsters so we can work on our tree house.

My first MMO was EverQuest, and I might be more more likely to return if the sport really reverted again to the previous graphics of avatars and revamped zones.

@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have acquired some mutual friends coming to remain for the weekend. In consequence, my gaming time is probably going to be occupied extra by split-display screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the chance arises, I will be splitting my time between The secret World and Guild Wars 2.

And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima On-line if both one bought a graphical update? That's a very good query. I wish to say sure, however I don't know if I would be telling the reality. I cherished UO and EQ back in the day, but I feel it would take a bit more than a graphical improve to make me a participant again. For each charmingly dated function that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of truly archaic design choices that I don't assume I'd be ready to put up with.

@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to game this weekend!! *almost faints with excitement* How much can I cram in? Let's see,Extremecraft.dewon't be in for Select my Adventure, so The key World can be on hold till Monday. (By the best way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 more (I actually need to take a look at an Asura), start plotting more for my EverQuest II group procuring district in addition to take in a few dungeons, and unfold my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and perhaps even get a couple of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on eating pizza. Mmm.

I would go back in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)

@mackeypb: I've been enjoying extra Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you understand what that is), as well as League of Legends. I am currently carrying as Graves, though I'm fairly positive these reading my column already know that. It feels good to play extra airdash fighters, although; I feel like a little bit of a void has been crammed in my gamer coronary heart.

To ensure that me to go back to EQ, it will take a better sport, not a graphical update. Actually, graphical updates mean virtually nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 were on high of the GW2 engine, I would nonetheless be down for enjoying it. Excessive-high quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.

@terilynns: I can be jumping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a few Foundry missions to talk about on my UGC podcast. I'll even be in Lord of the Rings Online as I discover it very enjoyable to farm and craft in that game. If time permits, I might be back in Glitch as properly. And yes, the rumors are true: Some people are twisting my arm to present Guild Wars 2 a try. I'd pick it up this weekend.

I am really glad this week's question does not apply to me. My first MMO continues to be my favourite, and it is a good looking recreation -- Star Trek Online!

Firstly of each weekend, we catch up with the Massively employees members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (In any other case often called: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to tell us what you are playing, too!
