'Minecraft' Realms Multiplayer Finally Heads To Apple TV

If you've been wanting to play Minecraft with your gaming buddies who own an Apple TV now is the time to get your groove on. "Realms", Minecraft's subscription-based multiplayer, has been added to the Apple TV version.Emailupdated version also features Xbox Live authentication support, which allows players to access their avatars linked to them and character skins.

When you purchase a Realms account, it's like getting an Minecraft server, only it's maintained by Microsoft which means you don't have to deal with things like hosting or IP addresses. You are in control of who can access your private Minecraft Realm also. So you don't need to worry about anyone destroying your world while you race around fighting explosions of Creepers or creating incredible recreations of King's Landing from Game of Thrones. You can purchase either a 10- or two-player Realm of your own for $3.99 and $7.99 and $7.99, respectively.

Unfortunately, those with existing Realms subscriptions on Mac, Linux or PC aren't able to play with their iOS or Apple TV brethren; there are two distinct Realms systems that include PCs and one that supports iOS, Android and Windows 10 users. We reached out to see if plans exist to connect the two systems.

The procedurally-generated worlds of Minecraft deserve to be explored with others; now Apple TV and iOS fans have a chance to do just that... as long as they stick to their own platform.
