The Many Uses of Dishwashing Liquid

Dishwashing liquids have been in our kitchens for what feels like forever. It won’t be wrong to say that Lux dishwashing liquid and other brands are one of the most adaptable staples. But, what is it that made dishwashing liquid a more preferred choice over dishwashing bars?

The answer is, their mild nature.

Dishwashing bars are comparatively harsh because they are non-concentrated. So, these might damage hands as well, while doing dishes.

Liquid dishwashers, on the contrary, are mild and can be used for many other cleaning chores. Let’s look at the many uses of dishwashing liquid:

Removing grease from kitchen appliances

Kitchen appliances such as microwave, oven, refrigerator, blender, and griddles are subject to grease build-up over the time and also get stubborn stains from cooking. You can use a mild dishwashing liquid to clean these appliances properly.

Although stainless steel cleaners are available in market for removing rains and grease from appliances, these are expensive and can be harsh on the skin. Using a liquid dishwasher is a cheap and effective alternative.

Cleaning combs and hairbrushes

We apply a lot of hair wax, oil, gel and mousse on hair, which result in building residue on the combs and hairbrushes. You can mix some amount of dishwashing liquid with warm water for cleaning them.

Cleaning outdoor furniture

A dishwashing liquid works well on glass and plastic surfaces, countertops and window sills. Fill small amount of liquid in a spray bottle and mix some warm water to clean outdoor or patio furniture. As this furniture is exposed to a lot of dirt and weathering, a mild cleaning liquid will remove the dirt or buildup on it.

Removing stains from clothes

We know that removing oil-based stains from cloth is difficult. But, dishwashing liquid can be your magic wand. You will be surprised to know that they might work even better than your laundry detergent. As this liquid is effective in removing food-based oil from utensils, it can be used for spot treatment on clothes.

Polishing jewellery

The jewellery we wear often gets dull because of the dirt that forms a layer on it. You can use a mild liquid detergent to get the original shine back. Mix some amount of liquid in water and soak the jewellery for 5-10 minutes. You can gently rub it with a soft bristles toothbrush to scrub out the stains.

Just like lux dishwashing liquid, you can also use Dettol handwash or any other good quality handwash for small cleaning jobs. You will be surprised to see the results after using both the products.
