Minecraft is a game that you should play with your friends. Minecraft snapshot 22W24A is out right now, and is building towards 1.19.1 by making a few bug fixes and two new features. The most important one is chat reporting which lets you report players who send "abusive messages" in the game chat. The blog states that "any reports made during testing periods are not considered to be valid," but that it is important to recognize that toxic players are a vital part of any online game. This is an excellent move.
Chat reporting is accessible through the social interactions screen, and you'll have to report individual chat messages along with picking an appropriate category for them too. Presumably, this is to stop the system itself from being abused, as you cannot simply create a report that is generically about the player. You need to specify what they have done and the blog mentions that the report will be reviewed by a moderator. There's no way to know what will constitute a genuine and useful report, but it's worth knowing about it nonetheless.
Another significant change is that you are now able to duplicate the incredible Minecraft allay. This can be done by providing them with an amethyst-shard. However, duplicates have the benefit of a 2.5-minute cooling time. This should alleviate any worries about how many allay mobs are out there. Also, an adorable thing can only be good news, right?
In not much official news, we're huge fans of this Mario Kart mod for Minecraft. It adds the karts you enjoy in Minecraft, but also includes some awesome aquatic features.
