Common readers of the positioning know that the higher administration is being shifted round right here at Massively, meaning that Brianna Royce will now be in cost. While we'll at all times miss Shawn Schuster's unmistakable voice and work on the location, the change will seemingly appear invisible to most readers.
I, for one, want to welcome our new overlord, for whom I don't have anything but respect and admiration. By complete coincidence, this week's header image occurs to be of her favorite animal. Also, I might have despatched quite a few gift baskets of fruit to her home. And I am positive we will all agree that earlier situations of tomfoolery should not be taken into account when she now considers that she has complete power over me.
Shifting on from the welcoming of overlords, it's time for this week's installment of WRUP, that includes the Massively staff explaining our plans for the weekend as well as whether or not a graphical upgrade would carry us again to our first MMOs. Take a look at our plans previous the break, and tell us what you will be up to within the comments!
@Beau_Hindman: I'll be settling down on a new deed in Wurm On-line, persevering with to grind my teeth as I look ahead to my new Computer to get here, and putting my exploration money the place my mouth is by finally downloading IMVU. It is a social MMO that looks very... totally different. I'm additionally still gathering my checklist of pre-World of Warcraft MMOs for coverage. Luckily I still have most of my previous accounts!
If I updated any graphics for a few of my favourite games, that might mean a downgrade for lots of them. I want graphics which can be extra stylized, particularly like those in Free Realms or Clone Wars Adventures. I might love to see a "serious" recreation executed with a extra stylized flair. Wurm Online can stay how it is, but I actually need to see some new avatars. I do know they're coming, however boy, I can't wait!
@nyphur: This weekend I will be entertaining a visiting Swedish buddy from my old World of Warcraft guild, working hard on Predestination, and attempting to convince my housemates to play more Guild Wars 2!
My first MMO was RuneScape, and its graphical updates have really introduced me back several occasions. I began again when it was a blocky world with 2-D goblin sprites, and the primary big 3-D replace hooked me back in for several months. I've returned periodically to see what the sport is like, and the graphics are definitely the first thing I look for. EVE Online has the identical effect, with large graphical updates pulling folks again in to strive the game once more.
@nbrianna: I'll be dividing my sport time between Guild Wars 2 and City of Heroes. Double XP is on completely in CoH, I hear, so it is the perfect time to roll up a brand new character in time for the Positron's Ally occasion subsequent week.
My first MMO was Ultima Online, and graphical upgrades did convey me again many times. That game has had extra improved shoppers than any MMO I know... but these upgraded clients usually get abandoned by the staff before they're finished as a result of a lot of the veterans simply refuse to modify. Very irritating!
@Eliot_Lefebvre: Metropolis of Heroes, Star Wars: The Previous Republic, and the ever-in style Offering Assist to a Cherished One with a Chilly. Sooner or later I'll truly play Guild Wars 2 for more than 10 minutes at a stretch. If I am fortunate, it will be earlier than the end of the decade.
I'm actually the wrong individual to ask about returning to a game for a graphical improve because graphics have by no means been what's turned me off from a sport. I did not initially leave Last Fantasy XI due to the graphics; I left because the sport wasn't truly enjoyable to play. If I see indicators that the sport I didn't like X period of time in the past has gotten higher, I am going to come operating right back, but placing a brand new coat of paint on a game I wasn't having fun with does not lure me again.
@elixabethclaire: The key World continues to be on pause for me as I devote my time to Guild Wars 2. I would like to hit eighty by the middle of the upcoming week, so I will be doing a whole lot of PvE and WvW this weekend. I didn't imply to, but I've got an entire agenda plotted out for my non permanent "major" after she hits 80, not to say just a little roster of who is in need of leveling after her.
Not a lot gaming for me this weekend. Possibly some The secret World.
I return and play all of my old MMOs anyway no matter updates, although I'm very a lot wanting ahead to Anarchy Online's eventual reskin.
@Sypster: My MMO to do record is a mile extensive at this point. I really want to put a cap on Volume III Ebook 6 in Lord of the Rings On-line, try the brand new Autumn Festival in RIFT, get by way of Egypt in The key World, and make the big bucks in Guild Wars 2.
As for graphical upgrades, well, if Anarchy On-line ever gets that newfangled redux off the ground, then you can guess I'll be first in line. It would be great to see what a barely more updated AO would look like.
@JayeRnH: This weekend I'm busy with a household trip, however in any spare time I have, I'll log into RIFT and grasp out next to Atrophinius within the Autumn instance just to hear his hilarious voice-overs. Aside from that, I am going to most likely pop into Minecraft with the youngsters so we are able to work on our tree house.
My first MMO was EverQuest, and I would be more more likely to return if the sport actually reverted again to the previous graphics of avatars and revamped zones.
@mvmatt: This weekend is my roommate's birthday, so we have acquired some mutual buddies coming to stay for the weekend. Because of this, my gaming time might be going to be occupied extra by break up-screen mayhem than MMO funtimes. But when the opportunity arises, I'll be splitting my time between The key World and Guild Wars 2.
And would I return to EverQuest or Ultima Online if both one obtained a graphical replace? That's a great query. I want to say sure, but I don't know if I might be telling the reality. I beloved UO and EQ back within the day, but I feel it could take a bit more than a graphical improve to make me a player once more. For each charmingly dated characteristic that I fondly remember, there is a plethora of really archaic design selections that I don't assume I'd be able to put up with.
@MJ_Guthrie: Oh my gosh! I get to recreation this weekend!! *almost faints with pleasure* How much can I cram in? Let's see, the vote won't be in for Choose my Adventure, so The secret World can be on hold until Monday. (By the best way, go vote!). To fill my weekend, I'm going to dive into GW2 more (I really need to check out an Asura), start plotting extra for my EverQuest II neighborhood procuring district as well as take in a few dungeons, and unfold my wings in Aion to complete up some quests and possibly even get a number of rounds of PvP Arenas in. I additionally plan on consuming pizza. Mmm.
I might go back in the event that they'd flip the blasted servers back on! (RIP Star Wars Galaxies.)
@mackeypb: I've been taking part in more Touhou Hisoutensoku (not that any of you already know what that is), in addition to League of Legends. I am at present carrying as Graves, though I am pretty sure these reading my column already know that. It feels good to play extra airdash fighters, though; I feel like a little bit of a void has been crammed in my gamer coronary heart.
In order for me to return to EQ, it would take a greater game, not a graphical update. Really, graphical updates mean nearly nothing to me. If the identical EQ graphics as in 2000 had been on prime of the GW2 engine, I'd still be down for taking part in it.Servers -quality graphics are a bonus, not a necessity.
@terilynns: I shall be jumping into Star Trek Online this weekend to play a few Foundry missions to discuss on my UGC podcast. I'll even be in Lord of the Rings On-line as I find it very stress-free to farm and craft in that game. If time permits, I might be again in Glitch as well. And yes, the rumors are true: Some individuals are twisting my arm to provide Guild Wars 2 a try. I would choose it up this weekend.
I am actually glad this week's question does not apply to me. My first MMO remains to be my favourite, and it is a phenomenal recreation -- Star Trek On-line!
At the beginning of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you enjoying this week?" (In any other case often known as: WRUP!) Be a part of us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the feedback to let us know what you are playing, too!
