Do Computer Speakers Cause Radiation?

When you use your PC, it's possible to be exposed to ionizing radiation from the speakers. There are several sources of RF emissions from your computer, but none are as harmful as speakers. The first is your desk. Computer speakers typically have an internal or external power supply. Either way, they're prone to emitting Low-Frequency EMF radiation. Using a desk with a power supply, however, means you're more likely to be exposed to this radiation.

To reduce your risk of exposure to speaker-induced electromagnetic radiation, consider installing a magnetic shielding element. This device will shield the speaker from the magnetic field, and won't change the sound quality. Magnetic shielding can be made of two materials: a donut-shaped magnet, or a cup-shaped shield. You can buy an inexpensive Pocket Magnetometer to measure how effective your shield is.
