The Sacred Heart Church in New York City

The Sacred Heart Church, located in the midst of the historic Fifth Ward, is one of the oldest Catholic churches in the city. Its mission is to serve the community by providing a place of worship for all faiths and spiritual beliefs. Originally, the church was founded in 1833 as a convent for the Sisters of Mercy. After the war, the nuns decided to reopen the school and turn it into a private girls' school. The college, which was based in the Undercroft of the Sacred Heath Church, was renamed Mount Saint Agnes College. The Undercroft had four classrooms, a teachers' room, and an assembly hall. Each classroom had two grades. Some parishioners remember attending classes in the Undercroft.

The Sacred Heart Church was constructed in 1864 and has a tetrastyle classical faade. The building was named for two Spanish knights from a noble Basque family. The tetrastyle structure of the Sacred Hear was moved to the High Bridge in several sections.

After its consecration, you can participate in the parish's Christmas festivities. You can volunteer at the church on December 15th. The Sacred Hear is also celebrated on December 20th. The Sacred Heart Parish holds an appreciation dinner for the clergy and other volunteers on December 20. It is also hosting a fundraiser on January 18th, 2018.
