While there are a couple "free" Minecraft servers out there, they are generally offered so that you will "upgrade" when you realize that performance is terrible a couple of hours into the game. It is possible for players to become frustrated and move on to other servers, making your dream impossible.
We recommend that you get a good server for only a few dollars per month and save yourself the headache in the long run.
How does a Minecraft Server operate?
The totality of a generated Minecraft world contains billions upon billions of blocks. These are rendered as chunks (a section of the map that is 16 blocks long, 16 blocks wide, and 256 blocks high for a total of 65,536 blocks) as a player moves through the world. The amount of ram needed to render each chunk will vary depending on the world, the number of blocks and mobs in that chunk, and other active players on the server.
Minecraft Java Edition Vs Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Minecraft offers two editions of the game. While the overall gameplay is virtually the same, there are a few differences between the two. Here are some server-related distinctions:
Mods cannot be installed on Bedrock servers. Java is required to install mods on your server to ensure that players have access to their land plots. You can't add custom skins or mods to the game. Vanilla Minecraft has three main modes, five if you include adventure and spectator.
Creative Mode
Minecraft creative mode allows you to enter any generated seed and build or destroy blocks at your own leisure. Although there are some mobs in this mode they are not aggressive, even if you attack them. You can't take great falls, hunger, or standing in lava damage.

Survival Mode

With skill and good armor, players will be able to go against both the ender dragon and the wither and be rewarded for their success.

Others build mob bases to gain large amounts and minimal effort in the near future. Creative builders will create structures and bases that are awe-inspiring for others to see.

There are four difficulty options for Minecraft survival mode: Easy, Normal, Hard, Peaceful, and Easy.
Peaceful Mode makes it relatively easy to die. You don't have the need to deal with hunger and aggressive mobs (they simply dont exist in this level). You can drown, get lava poured on you, or fall from great heights. Both Easy and Hard Mode have mobs that will appear. In Hard, you will take greater damage than in Easy.
Hardcore Mode
Hardcore Mode, also known as Survival Mode, is Survival Mode without the safety net of being able respawn when your character dies. These players are usually experienced Minecraft players and are interested in seeing how long they can survive before being killed. Hardcore Mode is where you die.
Some cheat the system by finding mods that save progress "just in-case", but this defeats its main purpose, which is to challenge players under high stakes. Phil "Ph1lza", Watson's 5-year-old Hardcore mode was ended in 2019 when he was attacked by a baby zombie in a cave. It is believed that his game was likely the longest continuous Hardcore game in Minecraft.
After you die in Hardcore you can choose to stay in Spectator Mode. This allows for you to move around the world to see everything, but you are unable to touch the earth.

Rules - It can be frustrating being on a server with rules you dont like. You can create your own rules and set the environment you want for Minecraft. Mods and Kits - as the owner, you get to choose which mods and kits will be allowed on the server.
