APEGS CBA For Geoscience

Being registered with APEGS as a geoscientist will bring you countless growth opportunities.  It is because the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists is a globally-recognized regulating organization. This regulatory organization uses a system, APEGS CBA for the assessment of geoscientists.

Here, in this blog, we will tell you about this system. Knowing about this system will definitely help you better prepare for registration. So, read this blog.

APEGS CBA:

There is a new experience assessment for geoscience candidates, called Competency-Based Assessment (CBA). This system has been approved by the APEGS membership, and it came into operation on January 1, 2021. This new system is available for use.

More information about APEGS CBA:

Before being issued a licence, you, as a geoscience applicant, have to demonstrate your ability to work as a geoscientist. The responsibility is on you to give evidence that you have, by means of experience, a satisfactory capability to work as a geoscientist at a professional level.

Many of Canada’s geoscience regulating organizations are moving towards competency-based assessment of geoscience experience. For that, a pan-Canadian competency-based assessment project was taken up with participation from geoscience regulators in many provinces.

The online competency assessment developed in the pilot phase by Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (BC) has been accepted by APEGS and many other regulating authorities in Canada.

Transition from the Current Experience Reporting  System:

You may continue in the current experience report system on the condition that you are a current geoscientist-in-training who has submitted one or more completed experience reports in the outgoing paper-based system before January 1, 2021. However, you are invited and encouraged to move to the CBA system.

You need to use the new CBA system in any of the following situations:

·        If you are a current geoscientist-in-training, and APEGS has not received one or more experience reports from you before January 1, 2021.

·        If you applied to APEGS as a geoscientist-in-training on or after January 1, 2021.

·        If you are a geoscientist-in-training applicant who is an international graduate having been provided with the experience review option to waive confirmatory exams and APEGS has not got your completed experience submission (comprising five years of reports) by January 1, 2021.

You should hire an APEGS competency assessment report writing expert, as the authority is very strict when it comes to assessment. It doesn’t tolerate even a trivial mistake. So, get your competency report written flawlessly by an expert.
