A couple got married in the metaverse, and some people are just complaining about the graphics Back to Video
Zoom is a very popular tool for attending weddings during COVID-19. But what about having the whole wedding taking place in the metaverse? A symbiotic virtual world where each guest can participate as an avatar? It turns out that it's already happening.

It's really difficult to think of any other thing I'd rather do than look at cartoons of people on conference calls. Call it what you want.
The New York Times reported that Traci and Dave Gagnon got married in the metaverse during the Labor Day weekend. The couple had a live ceremony at an New Hampshire golf club, however, they also held a wedding in the virtual world for their family and friends. Instead of a video call, the couple opted to let the entire event be broadcast in a virtual space with photos from the live wedding broadcast mirrored in the virtual space.
The reaction to the story was rapid and swift, with Jezebel declaring in a headline: "The Metaverse might be the most awful thing that could ever happen to weddings." The gossip website also warned that this trend could make it difficult to politely decline an unwanted invitation to a wedding.
Article content On Twitter, many users disagreed that this was anything new.
"This was happening 20 years ago, so why is it so special now?" one user wrote.
Others claimed that graphics in games such as Second Life and World of Warcraft were more appealing 15 years ago.
Another user on Twitter wrote "Really difficult for me to think of anything worse than this. I'd rather instead of watching cartoons are talking to on conference calls." It's your choice to call it whatever you like.

The Gagnons stated that having their wedding in the metaverse meant that guests could attend who might not have been able to in person. The maid of honour who was sick was able to walk her down the aisle, and Dave's friend who couldn't attend due to his wife's pre-existing health conditions, could deliver the toast.
The metaverse that hosts the wedding was created by Virbela, a company which according to its website, "builds 3D immersive worlds for events and work learning." It works with all computers and does not require a VR headset.
The result was not embraced by Gamers.
"Graphically, the Metaverse is as impressive as the PlayStation 1 game," according to an article on dexerto.com which is a gaming news website.
