There is no definitive answer to how far away driverless cars are from becoming a reality, as the technology is still in development and has not yet been perfected. However, many experts believe that driverless cars will become increasingly common over the next decade or two, as the technology continues to evolve and becomes more widely available. Driverless cars have the potential to be very beneficial for the environment, as they would significantly reduce emissions from vehicles. Additionally, ifClick Herebecame widely adopted, it could lead to a decrease in traffic congestion and an overall reduction in travel demand. This would also have positive environmental impacts by reducing fuel consumption and cutting down on pollution caused by idling vehicles.

It may be in the short term however that environmental impact of driverless cars is actually higher than petrol equivalents as they may not be produced in mass market enough yet. This is what we experience with electric vehicles for years, before they started to be produced with economies of scale.
