Do you own a Nintendo Switch? Do you enjoy playing games that you can play on your iPhone and iPad? You'll be happy to be aware that the iOS 16 update will allow users to connect Nintendo Joy-Con controllers directly to your Apple device. It's one of the five features that are hidden in the new operating system.

In the last few years, game-makers have introduced more complicated gameplay to mobile gaming. You can play games like Fortnite, Call of Duty and Apex Legends on your mobile device by using services such as GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming. A gaming controller could be required for phones or tablets that has a smaller screen than your TV.

Third-party controllers aren't new to Apple, though. Right now you can pair the DualSense from PlayStation and the wireless controller for Xbox to your iPhone or iPad. Other controllers such as the Backbone One and the Razer Kishi are specifically designed for gaming on the go.

If you already own a Nintendo Switch, there's no need to buy an external gaming controller. There are two Joy-Cons that are connected to your console. The best part is, connecting the Joy-Cons with your iPhone or iPad takes only a few seconds.

This will only work on iOS 16, which is currently in the public beta. Here's how to download it now.

How to pair your JoyCons with your iPhone or iPad If not, simply attach them to the Nintendo Switch while it's charging in the dock. Once your Joy-Cons are recharged and ready to go remove them from your console and follow the following:

1. First, press and hold down the black pairing button on the top of the Joy-Con until the green light appears to be running back and forward. This means that the Joy-Con is now in pairing mode.

2. Next, on your iPhone or iPad go to Settings > Bluetooth.

3. Scroll down to find the Joy-Con in Other Devices. Depending on the Joy-Con you're currently pairing, you will see either Joy-Con L or Joy-Con R.

4. To pair it, just tap the Joy-Con option. If necessary repeat the process using the other Joy-Con.

After your Joy-Cons are connected, you can go into any game that supports third-party controllers, like Minecraft, Among Us and Call of Duty, and play using your newly paired Joy-Cons. There are some mobile games that do not accommodate both Joy-Con controllers at once and you may only need to pair one.
