Squirrel with a Gun Release Date

In the past decade, if games have taught us anything, it's that people want to play as animals. Specifically, we want to play as obnoxious small creatures and get away with a variety of actions that would not be tolerated in real life.

Thankfully, independent developers have taken note of the success of games such as Goat Simulator and Untitled Goose Game.

The task is understood. I say this with assurance, and I'm about to demonstrate why.

You may have heard references to Squirrel with a Gun. Yesterday, developer Daniel DeEntremont uploaded a trailer to the game's Steam website, which contains this excerpt he tweeted previously.

What else would you anticipate from a indie game titled Squirrel with a Gun? It is a squirrel with a human-sized pistol that it is not scared to use.

In the complete trailer on Steam, you can see the squirrel being pursued by federal officers, racing away with delight after stealing someone's phone, and performing absurd platforming acrobatics utilizing the recoil from its rifle.

Squirrel with a Gun does not yet have a release date, but there are plenty of Early Access and future titles to play if you can't wait to go completely insane.

Wanted Raccoon is a game currently under Early Access development by MAD Sprouts. It is comparable to Squirrel with a Gun, except? You guessed it. You take on the role of a raccoon whose habitat was devastated by deforestation and who now tries to reconcile with his family and exact revenge on humans.

Although he does not receive a human-sized firearm, he does receive a crossbow and armor proportionate to his stature. Other gameplay elements shown in the game's trailers include crafting, base construction, and general crimes against humanity.

Who could blame him however? Deforestation and climate change, among other things, are destroying the habitats of so much species that I wouldn't be astonished if Mother Nature one day snaps and unleashes raccoons on us. I hope she also provides the raccoons with small skateboards for mobility.

If you are interested in something more complex, The Greatest Penguin Heist of All Time may appeal to you. Imagine Payday but featuring penguins. Also in Early Access, developer That Fish, That Other Fish estimates that it will continue in Early Access until "at least 2023"; nonetheless, there are currently a variety of maps and objectives to attempt. Unlockable weaponry and customization possibilities are many. Here is an example from one side of the development team That Other Fish to inspire you.

In addition to up to eight player co-op and PvP deathmatches, The Greatest Penguin Heist of All Time distinguishes itself from Squirrel with a Gun and Wanted Raccoon. And remember the realistic nooting.
