We know that Minecraft version 1.8 (also referred to as the "Adventure Update") is available via semi-official methods since late last week, following an Mojang developer leaked the update with the approval of the studio.games You don't have to search for the file. The patch is available for download from the Minecraft launcher. It was recently made available to all users.
This isn't something we thought would cause much concern to our more technologically-savvy file-hunting readers. If you are concerned about downloading a game update that could be hidden as a bestiality pornovirus it is possible to download the update right now without any concerns.
