Stampy will tell his story of how he made Christmas extra special and offer insight into his personal life.

Van der Kuyl claimed that Stampy was the "epitome digital native of the 21st century" who would inspire audiences regardless of their age.

"Stampy is an inspiration persona for a whole new generation who can clearly see future careers will depend on a unique mix of talents, creativity , and technical skills that can be developed," he said.

The RSE lecture will be given as part of BBC Make it Digital, an initiative that aims to foster digital imagination among young people.
