Despite the consultation and preparation by animal control officers,a venomous zebra cobra was caught with a glue trap on a north Raleigh porch on Wednesday,capping a 48-hour case involving North Carolina media.
To remove the glue fully from its body, the cobra was guided into a red bucket and moved to a safe location.
A striped snake was captured by WRAL cameras crawling onto a front porch on Sandringham Drive earlier in the day. A hood was visible wherever it turned its head.
After confirming it was a snake, Animal Control officers moved the camera crews back of the area and attempted to capture it there.
Early Tuesday, a 911 call from that home sparked the search.

At youtube.com, a striped snake crawled out of the siding of a house on Sandringham Drive onto the front porch of a home earlier in the day. When it lifted its head to look around, its hood was visible.
Officers from Animal Control moved the cameras back after confirming that it was the snake, trying to capture it before moving in.

Joan Nelson said she was relieved that the ordeal was over.
It makes me really happy and I feel much more secure, she said. Getting outside on my deck or stepping out on my deck gives me a sense of freedom. Nevertheless, I feel somewhat sorry for the snake.
The snake in question was found laying out on a porch in a north Raleigh neighborhood where a zebra cobra had been reported missing.
Even a morning dog walk can prove dangerous for this snake, a zebra cobra that can spit up to nine feet. It is a very dangerous snake according to the African Snakebite Institute. An animal's venom could cause the victim's nervous system to shut down.

Dr. Salina Locke, a veterinarian with Avian and Exotic Animal Care, treats an array of animals.
Normally, this cobra species does not bite. She said they are more likely to spray their venom . they are very precise and go straight for the eyes.
Due to its dangers, Locke advises against keeping this snake as a pet.
Most bites occur while people are sleeping. Health problems can linger for years for people who are bit, according to research.
During a search on Tuesday afternoon, police searched the home on 6917 Chamonix Place, near where the cobra was last seen.
There were four visits by police to that house in March in connection with an animal issue. On Monday and Tuesday, they returned after spotting the zebra cobra on a porch about a half mile away.
Keith and Rebecca Gifford live at that address, according to county records. There is a Facebook account for Keith Gifford that shows several photos of snakes that he claims are owned by his son, Christopher.
Christopher Gifford has more than 460000 followers on TikTok. He says he has a 7-foot-long zebra cobra on one of his posts.
