10 Tips for Selling Your House with Kids

As a homeowner that loves our home, we are convinced that our houses will automatically find a buyer, and that it will be seen as a great space by all real estate home buyers. There can be a strong attachment to our home that comes from spending a lot of time there.  In most cases a much-loved home has accumulated many wonderful memories.

After all, it holds all these magical memories of your family. Due to the attachment we have to our homes, we tend to set logic aside.

Showing your home is not always easy to do when you have children in the house.

Here are a few tips to help make it easier.

1.    Ensure thorough cleaning before a viewing

Give yourself a few days or hours in advance to do a deep clean and organize if you aren't comfortable with a buyer looking at your house for sale through your child's mess. Be sure to tidy up before viewing.

2.    Depersonalize rooms.

Drawings on the walls and children-themed paintings all look nice and pleasing, but it's best to put these away. Some potential buyers may not have a family and it’s important to show that your home is versatile and not just a home for families.

3.    Take your children out when you have a viewing

It's distracting when there are children in the house playing during a viewing. Fortunately, you don't have to be in your house during a viewing. You could take the kids out for a walk.

4.    Store things elsewhere

Do you have stuff lying around that you won't need until you're in your next house? Then you might need to consider a storage unit to lessen the clutter.
