Georgia Apostille Service

You don't have to pay for an urgent service to get your apostille, you can do it yourself. The State of Georgia processes all documents on a first-come, first-served basis.

Georgia apostille service may only be issued in the state of Georgia by the office of the Georgia Secretary of State. We recommend that you call the Apostille Office and describe your document to ensure that you are ready for the apostille.

An apostille may be placed on original documents issued in the state of Georgia that bear the official signature and seal of a valid mandatory notary, a current state registrar of Georgia, a probate judge, or a document issued by one of the departments of the state of Georgia.

Below is a list of the various departments of the state of Georgia. The Apostille certificate only certifies the capacity of the person who signed the public document and the authenticity of the signature. An apostille certificate does not certify the content of the public document to which it refers.

Documents issued by another state cannot be apostilled by the state of Georgia. They must be apostilled from the same issuing country. Documents issued by the federal government to individuals or companies based in Georgia must obtain the apostille from the U.S. UU. The Secretary of State of Georgia shall issue only one apostille, which is intended exclusively for the participating countries of The Hague.

All documents issued to countries not participating in The Hague are certified and not apostilled. Apostille services are not required in the United States or any of its territories or possessions. As a result, the Secretary of State of Georgia will not issue an apostille for use in American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands. The Georgia Secretary of State charges $10 per document. A document can have multiple pages.

The processing time for the Apostille service is 2 business days.
