But coaching isn't only for the big shots. Housewives, students, empty-nesters, small business owners and all others in between are working with personal development coaches.

What kind of Coach do I want to work with?

As the profession has grown there are now dozens of different types of coaches. They are bifurcated into two heads - General Life Coaches and Coaches with a specific niche. Niche coaches normally look to the successes they have had in their own lives, combining these with coaching skills and then pick a niche in that area.

A Sales Coach for instance probably has a strong track record in successful sales. A Relationship Coach will normally have a good record with communication and personal relationships. A Life Purpose Coach have probably walked their talk and would have found and be living their life ‘Purpose’.

So, realizing what sort of assistance you are looking for a good place to start. If you don't know where to start; or you would like coaching in different areas of your life, choose a general Life Coach first. Moreover, some coaches offer structured programs for specific results.

Like, each session may have a targeted topic and by the time the program ends, you would have learned, achieved a particular result, such as weight loss, getting a new job, creating a life strategy plan, or achieving emotional healing, etc. A self-belief coach would be more focused on helping clients gain more confidence. So each session will revolve around whatever is coming up for the client at the time.

Simultaneously, the coach you are interviewing is also interviewing you since it’s always in best interest for both that the fit or match to be mutual. Coaches come in varied shapes, sizes, temperaments, personalities, backgrounds, genders, religions, etc.

As for coaching styles of which there are countless, you'll find coaches who are intuitive, honest, by-the-book, linear, spiritual etc. Coaches come in all forms.
