What's The Story of Dragon Ball?

Dragon Ball is the story of good versus evil. The series begins when a monkey-tailed boy named Goku meets a girl as an infant (we learn her name is Bulma) who asks him to find a set of dragon balls for her. The dragon balls are mystical orbs that can grant wishes when gathered together. Goku agrees to help and sets off on his journey with Bulma and a ragtag group of friends. Along the way, they encounter many enemies, including one of the most powerful fighters in the world, Piccolo Daimao. Goku and his friends eventually defeat Piccolo Daimao, but their work does not end there. Over time, more enemies appear and new obstacles arise--but so do new friends. Eventually, Goku must confront his ultimate rival--the evil robot Dr. Myuu--in order to save Earth from total destruction!

Why Is The Dragon Ball So Popular?

The anime series first aired in 1986. But it wasn’t until 1989 that the series exploded in popularity. The popularity of Dragon Ball is largely due to its action and comedy. This aspect of the series made it accessible to a wide audience. For example, when Goku, the protagonist of the series, fights with his archrival Vegeta, they appear as equals. The two characters have the same abilities and skills. However, Goku always wins because he’s a good and noble character who never gives up or lets evil win.

Dragon Ball also appeals to people because it showcases how to be a powerful but honorable person while using violence as a last resort. Goku eventually learns that non-violence is the best way to go about life and becomes an important role model for children across the world.
